Safe And Sound In Ottawa

Thanks to the Continental Airlines flight attendant who let me move to the front row so I could be first off the plane, I made my connection in Newark with two minutes to spare. I'm just leaving the hotel to head down to Scotia Bank Place for the Battle of Ontario - Leafs vs Senators. More later.....

Welcome to Ottawa Steve! I've listened to your interviews on the Team 1200 today from both Ft.Lauderdale and Ottawa and have to say I'm totally envious of your cross-continent adventure. I look forward to following your upcoming advantures. I'll also be looking for you in the stands cheering for the Home Team tonight.

Good Luck & Bon Voyages!!

As I type this the Senators are man-handling the lowly Maple Leafs...

Life is good.

Welcome to one of the quietest rinks in the NHL, perhaps the quiestest.

No doubt you noticed that fact tonight while watching the Sens lay a whipping on the Leafs. Fans here are so lifeless that it makes one think that the other team is winning or that the building is empty.

Anyway, all the best with your continuing quest.

I'm a semi-regular at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. Semi becuase I'm a Flyers fan - born in Philly - and now living in lower Delaware. It's a 200 mile round trip to see a game but I'll make at least 8 games this year with my two oldest kids, we already have the tickets. I see where you'll be there to see the Flyers play the Devils - a divisional game no less. Unfortunately, that Saturday's game is one that I am not going to see so I'll have to miss you at that one, kudos on your adventure however - and pull for the home team on November 17th ...

What a grand idea !

saw you in Pantherville and tonight in Ottawa. Cool that people are hearing about you and have been pretty nice for the most part. Glad you are having fun. I am doing my trip to all the arenas in 30 years, so I can take my time and go back to the ones I like best. Montreal is my favorite town and arena so far.
See you at the end of your trip back here in Tampa. Good Luck and safe travels.

Hello Steve,

Looks like you got a pretty good reception in Ottawa judging by the responses on your blog.

What an awesome trip to have your dream come true and not cost a fortune! Are you keeping track of your costs and will you include that on your last blog including out of pocket expenses, number of air miles/points used to fly, hotel stays...? Oh yes and the freebies, how much did you save due to freebies?

Did you know you saw an NHL record being set last night with the Ottawa Senators being the first team to get 26 points in the first 14 games?

Living in CT (a very non-hockey state), I was surprised to hear of your 30 games in 30 nights by a neighbour last night when my husband and I set out to walk the dog between the first and second periods. I'm not sure if the neighbour is a hockey fan but he certainly knew of your escapade. Then between the second and third periods we saw you briefly on TV so this morning I had to become a "30 Games in 30 Nights" fan. Or is that a Steve Williamson fan? It sounds like you're having a great time. Take care and be safe!

And to the Ottawa Senators:
GO SENS GO!!!!!! We've missed you boys since moving to CT from Orleans but bit the bullet and got NHL Centre Ice this year so we could be the true fans we once were. It's great to be back following you as we should have been.

Cheers,

Linda in Fairfield
